Souman Bose started his artistic pursuits by writing, directing, and acting in his 2011 horror short film Chain Mail, where Soumen Bose co-starred with Sraboni Kar and Arghya Sinha Roy. This movie garnered many international accolades, including Best Short Film at the Resonance Film Festival 2012. In addition, it was termed the official selection for the New York International Short Film Festival of 2013 and the official selection at the Clermont-Ferrand film festival 2011, held in Paris. Souman Bose followed it up with his 2015 short film Replication, where he starred alongside Srijita Ghosh and Durgesh Pratap Singh. This film also swept the film festival circuit in India and won three Best Short Film awards. Other Short films that he has starred in and/or written are 2012’s Guide Gufraan, 2018’s Mithye, and 2019’s Bhalobasar Sohor- Bus Stop.  


Souman Bose made his silver screen debut with the 2014 film Kash. True to his form, Souman Bose directed and co-wrote the film apart from starring. His cast mates for this film were Kheya Chattopadhyay and Akshay Kapoor. The film was hailed as the first ‘Mumblecore’ film ever made in Kolkata and gained massive adulation from international critics. The film was officially selected for the 5th Bronx World Film Festival in New York in 2015. His most famous role was in 2020’s Bramhadaitya, directed by Abhirup Ghosh. He was cast in this movie alongside Rudranil Ghosh and Sayani Ghosh. Other significant movies that Souman Bose has appeared in are Family Album (2015), Zombiesthaan (2019), Nirbandhamer Jora Khun (2020), and Abhijaan (2022).

Web series

Souman Bose made his OTT debut with 2018’s addatimes series, In Their life, directed by Nirjhar Mitra. In this series, he got to share the screen with Tollywood legend Sabyasachi Chakrabarty. Souman Bose’s portrayal of the callous Rajdeep in this series is widely regarded as his best villainous role. His next big role was in the 2018 Hoichoi series Dhanbad Blues, directed by Sourav Chakraborty, where he costarred with Rajatabha Dutta, Aparajita Adhya, and Rupanjana Mitra. He claims this was his most physically challenging role to date. Other web series that Souman Bose has also appeared in are Rahasya Romancha Series (2019) and Byadh (2022).
