Sarathkumar Ramanathan or best known as Sarath Kumar was born on 14 July 1954. He is an Indian actor, politician, filmmaker, and singer. He started his career as a journalist. However, in 1986, he started his film career with the Telugu film Samajamlo Sthree. Since then he has appeared in many movies including Jagathalaprathapan, Puriyaadha Pudhir, Cheran Pandiyan, Pazhassi Raja, Kola Kolaya Mundhirika, Muni 2: Kanchana, etc. He also featured in many TV shows and web series including Kodeeswari, Parampara, Big Boss, and Irai.
In the year 2007, Sarath launched his own political party All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) in Tamil Nadu, declaring to carry out the ideals of K. Kamara.

Sarath Kumar was born into a Tamil family in New Delhi. His father’s name is Ramanathan and his mother’s name is Pushpaleela. Sarath has one brother and one sister name Lt. Sudarshan Ramananathan and Mallika Kandaswamy. In 1984, he married Chaya but got separated in 2001. In 2001, he married Raadhika. Sarath has four children named Rahul, Varalaxmi, and Pooja.
