Anurag Kashyap was born on 10th September 1972, is an Indian director, editor, writer, filmmaker, producer, and actor in Hindi movies. His full name is Anurag Singh Kashyap. In 1997, he started his career in the TV series “Kabhie Kabhie ” as a writer. After that, in 1998, he got a chance to write Ram Gopal Verma’s Crime drama “Satya’ as a co-writer. Anurag Kashyap wrote many films such as No Smoking(2004), Return of Hanuman (2007), Dev.D (2009), Mumbai cutting(2010), Sacred Games( 2018), etc. He won film festivals, international film awards, screen awards, and many more.

The filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was born in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father’s name is Prakash Singh who was a Chief Engineer of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. Anurag Kashyap has one brother named Abhinav Kashyap who is a director and one sister named Anubhuti Kashyap. In 2003, he married Aarti Bajaj who is a film editor but in 2009 they got divorced. This couple has a daughter named Aaliya Kashyap. After getting divorced from his first wife, he married actress Kalki Koechlin in 2011 but this couple got divorced in 2015. Anurag Kashyap’s girlfriend is named Subhra Shetty. 

Education

Anurag Kashyap completed his schooling in Green School Dehradun and Scindia School in Gwalior. He wanted to become a scientist. In 1993, he completed his graduation from Raj College University in Delhi with the subject of Zoology.

Controversy

  • Anurag Kashyap directorial debut film “Paanch” had fallen into controversy for the violent portrayal of youths in 2000. 
  • In 2007, his other film “Black Friday” was become controversial for showing the sensitive problem of the 1993 “Bombay Bomb Blasts”.
  • By the media, he is often condemned for promoting abuse, drugs, and sex through his films.
  •  In 2016, through the “Udta Punjab” film, he was condemned by the Censor board for portraying Punjab in a bad sense.
