Abhirami started her career with the Malayalam film Kathapurushan in 1995. At the time of pursuing her education in college, she worked as a TV anchor for the program Top Ten. Abhirami made her Malayalam film debut as a child artist with the film Kathapurushan in 1995 with the co-actors Vishwanathan, Aranmuka Ponnamma, Urmila Unni, Narendra Prasad, Babu Namboothiri, Mini Nair, etc.
In 1999 she got roles in two Malayalam movies titled Pathram as Shilpa Mary Cherian and Njangal Santhushtaranu as Geethu Sanjeevan.
Abhirami acted in three Malayalam movies in 2000 titled Sradha as Swapna, Millennium Stars as Radha, and Melevaryathe Malakhakkuttikal as Devika Variyar (Devu).
