He is a popular Indian actor and mainly works in films, TV shows, and web series based in Kolkata. He is best known for playing the character of Topshe in the Feluda series. Some of his best movies as Topshe are Baksho Rahashya ( 1996, as Topshe), Gosaipur Sargaram (1996, as Topshe), Sheyal Debota Rahasya (1996, as Topshe), Bosepukure Khunkharapi (1996, as Topshe), Joto Kando Kathmandu ( 1996, Topshe). He also appeared in many superhit Bengali movies including Teen Yaari Katha ( 2006), The Bong Connection ( 2007), Byomkesh Bakshi ( 2010), Abar Byomkesh ( 2012), Rajkahini ( 2015), Habu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Montri ( 2021), and so on. Saswata also appeared in the Mahabharata Murders ( 2022) web series. His role as Bob Biswas in the Hindi movie Kahaani ( 2012) was highly appreciated by the audience.

• Saswata was born and brought up in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
• His father Late Subhendu Chatterjee, was a noted Bengali actor.
• During the early days, Saswata worked as a theatre artist for almost six years. After that, he joined his father’s theatre group Biswarupa.
